On "Fox News Sunday," Bill Kristol again predicted that Tim Kaine would be Obama’s choice for a running mate, calling him the "strongest pick."
That’s my advice to Senator Obama, and he and David Axelrod are watching this show right now. They’re on tenterhooks, you know, "Is Kristol sticking with Kaine?" Now that Mara’s for Kaine, too, I think it’s virtually a done deal.
The Weekly Standard editor might still be proven right, even if his (ultra-specific) timetable didn’t pan out.
July 27, FNS: "So I’m thinking Obama will meet — he’s in Washington on Tuesday, two days from now. He’ll have a secret meeting with Tim Kaine — this is my theory — they’ll work it all out. And then on Monday, next Monday, August 4th, 11:00 a.m. in Richmond, Obama and Tim Kaine. And that’ll be an attractive young ticket.
Aug 3, FNS: "They changed the plan a little bit. But I still think the pick will be this week and I still think it’ll be either Tim Kaine or Evan Bayh, and I still think it will be Governor Kaine." He added: "I still think it will be this week, before the Olympics."
