It’s not about Ayers

There is much focus on McCain’s attempt to tie Obama to Bill Ayers, but that the former Weatherman is a mere means to an end.

Such was made plain with the new McCain ad this morning suggesting Obama cares little for US troops and has actually endangered them.

It’s this line, used over the weekend and again today, that captures the message Republicans are trying to drive: "This is not a man who sees America as you and I do — as the greatest force for good in the world."

At best, this is to say that Obama doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism.   At worst, and this is where the new ad goes, it means Obama doesn’t sufficiently love America and is actually apart from it.
