Floridians settle up with Senate Phillies Phans

They don’t call them just desserts for nothing.

On Thursday, Florida Sens. Mel Martinez and Bill Nelson will pay homage to Pennsylvania Sens. Bob Casey, Arlen Specter and the World “F’ing” Champion Philadelphia Phillies (apologies to Chase Utley) with Cuban pastries, citrus fruit, Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish and copies of the Columbia Restaurant Spanish Cookbook, according to our friends at The (Allentown) Morning Call.

The tropical delights are pay off from a friendly wager the four senators had on the World Series. In case you need a refresher, my long-suffering Phillies defeated the Tampa Bay Rays.

(Editors Note: The author is clearly biased on this topic, but we’ll let him get away with it just this once given the Phillies century of futility. — Martin Kady II)
