A Chicago public radio piece captures some of the texture of Obama’s political past, and the mild irony that his rapid local rise was possible only in the anti-machine enclave of Hyde Park, while his national rise required some embracing of Daley’s machine, to the mild disappointment, if not surprise, of some locals.
(And yes, it’s a bit of a slow news day. Just wait ’til tomorrow, which will be, thankfully, Avi’s problem, as I head off for some fishing.)
