In what’s a relatively rare stance for a presidential campaign, Obama allies are casting Obama as just as good as — not better than — John McCain on gun rights.
"When it comes to Barack Obama vs. John McCain on gun rights, it’s a draw," says this mailer from the Missouri Democratic Party, supplied by a reader in the state. It landed the same day the NRA endorsed McCain and features a young boy with a rifle and a contrast between the candidates’ economic policies.
The same message has played in low-profile radio and television ads in gun-friendly markets.
